4 : Set Auto Focus Mode

Overview

Depending on the applications, Auto Focus is needed to perform either (a) one time at the beginning of the streaming period or (b) continuously during the whole running time period of the camera. For example, when you are having a conference call, Auto Focus is needed only when you start using the camera, otherwise the camera would try to focus every time you move your head. However, when you are shooting this object and that one, Auto Focus should perform at any time.

Also, under certain conditions, CMOS image sensor’s phase detection function may not work. In such cases, disabling PDAF function contributes to achieve fast focusing, because THSCU101’s default Auto Focus methodology is so-called Hybrid AF where PDAF and Contrast AF work together complimentarily. PDAF is primal method in the Hybrid AF because it is generally fast in focus, but if the circumstances do not allow PDAF to work, it is faster to omit PDAF.

Therefore, THSCU101 supports 4 different settings for Auto Focus. If you feel AF may not the fastest, try other settings and find the most appropriate mode.
