THP7312 - 16MP Image Signal Processor

Overview

The THP7312/THP7312-P is an image signal processor (ISP) can be connected to CMOS image sensors from various sensor companies, and supports up to 16M (million) pixel (H=4704) images. THP7312-P is capable of high speed processing up to 15 frame/sec (fps) for 16M pixels, 20fps for 13M pixels, 30fps for 8M pixels, or 60fps for FHD pixels images. The THP7312/THP7312-P provides various applications with newly supporting RGB-IR image sensors, wide dynamic range (WDR) and High Dynamic range (HDR) image sensors as well as conventional image sensors.

The THP7312/THP7312-P receives various image data formats, such as Bayer RAW, RGB, or YCbCr422 data. It executes the variety of image-processing functionality with a built-in special purpose image-processing engine in high-speed throughput by pipeline processing. It outputs Bayer RAW, YCbCr422, YCbCr420, or JPEG-encoded image data.

The THP7312/THP7312-P has selectable input ports connecting to CMOS image sensor. One is 1Gbps/Lane MIPI CSI-2 receiver and the other is 12bit parallel input. MIPI CSI-2 receiver has 2 ports, one port consists of 4lane mainly connected to main camera, and the other consists of 2lane mainly connected to sub camera. The THP7312/THP7312-P provides a solution to implement a mobile system with resent trend of higher resolution sub camera, by interfacing both of main and sub cameras by one chip. The THP7312-P has selectable output ports connecting to host processors. One is 1.2Gbps/Lane MIPI CSI-2 4lane transmitter and the other is 8 or 16bit parallel output. The THP7312/THP7312-P receives and transmits MIPI interleaved data stream with Data Types (DT) or multi Virtual Channel identifiers (VC). The THP7312/THP7312-P can transmit still JPEG data, preview images, and thumbnail images simultaneously. Users can utilize MIPI interleaving functionality to realize various applications such as zero shutter lag, simultaneous capture of movie and still images. THP7312/THP7312-P can control 3A functions for image sensors of IR, WDR, or HDR, by utilizing MIPI interleaving functionality.

The THP7312/THP7312-P uses the special purpose image-processing engine to perform various operations on image data received from CMOS image sensors. The THP7312-P executes various types of the image data correction for errors raised by lenses and sensors, and adaptive high quality image processing. The THP7312/THP7312-P also operates and calculates information to control 3A function (3A information), i.e. the automatic exposure (AE), automatic white balance (AWB), and auto focus (AF) function. The THP7312/THP7312-P enhanced the accuracy of 3A information for entire and localized image regions.

The THP7312/THP7312-P also has many functions, such as high dynamic range (HDR) synthesis, super-resolution resizer, advanced noise reduction, high speed face detector, advanced movie anti shaker, de-fog function, enhanced color correction, advanced gamma correction, advanced edge enhancement and dark area image correction.

The THP7312/THP7312-P has a 32bit RISC MPU to control the image-processing engine, 2-wire and SPI serial interfaces and general purpose input and output ports controlled by user customizable firmware codes. Users can send the firmware code from host processors to the internal memory of THP7312/THP7312-P by serial interfaces, or let the THP7312/THP7312-P to load it from external flash memory. Then users can make THP7312/THP7312-P to response to the commands sent from the host processor, to control 3A functions and peripheral devices.
