THine’s Customer Received FDA 510(k) Clearance and Started Volume Production of their Single-Use 4K Endoscope Using THine’s ISP and SerDes
TOKYO, December 12, 2023 | SANTA CLARA, CA, December 11, 2023 – THine Electronics, Inc. (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 6769) and its fully owned USA subsidiary THine Solutions, Inc. today announced that one of THine’s customer in the US received 510(k) clearance from the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and started volume production of their single-use 4K surgical endoscope using THine’s Image Signal Processor (ISP) and Serializer-Deserializer (SerDes) products of V-by-One® HS. THine’s ISP and uncompressed high-speed video transmission technologies play a critical role in the customer’s endoscope.
Repeated use of surgical scopes induces inferior visualization, workflow disruption both at surgical sites and sterilization processes, and unnecessary safety risks in each medical operation. With the single-use surgical endoscopes along with predictable and transparent subscription pricing models, such endoscope provides patients the efficient, reliable, and safe solution through surgeons and staff.
The endoscope’s outstanding high resolution image quality is enabled by THine’s technology. THine’s ISP with THine’s Camera Development Kit (CDK) tools allowed the customer to customize the ISP firmware to achieve best-in-class image quality. The high-definition image provided by the customer allows surgeons to perform procedures with the highest confidence. THine also supported the uncompressed transmission of the image/video data from the endoscope to the intelligent processing unit which is several meters away with its proprietary V-by-One® HS SerDes technology. V-by-One® HS can transmit and receive data at up to 4Gbps over 15 meters and is the de facto standard used worldwide in in television displays.
For years, many people have discussed the idea of single-use medical scopes, but there are very few such scopes that are clinically operational in terms of image quality and technical reliability in fact. THine provides an ultra-small-packaged V-by-One® HS product for the endoscope market and also provides outstanding support throughout our development process to enable the customer’s endoscope to achieve the best-in-class image quality.
