How to Find the Right THine Products

THine’s SerDes (Serializer/Deserializer) products for small quantities are available at Digi-Key. For production order, contact us.

Note: Part Number ending with “-B” means ‘bulk’ allowing to buy in small quantities. (i.e., cut reel, broken tray)

Key parameters for THine LVDS products are:

  • Tx (TTL/CMOS to LVDS), Rx (LVDS to TTL/CMOS), or Repeater (LVDS to LVDS)

  • Video bit count (8bit or 10bit)

    • 8bit products cover 6bit video.

  • Video port count (single or double)

    • Some double-port products support Single-in Single-out, Single-in Dual-out, Dual-in Single-out, and Dual-in Dual-out.

  • Distribution or Replication mode

    • In this mode, Single-input is replicated to Double output (2 streams of the same video).

Serializer (TTL/CMOS to LVDS)

  1. Standard 8bit Single Tx will be THC63LVDM83D. See Datasheet.

    1. Wider Temperature version of THC63LVDM83D is THC63LVDM83D-Z supporting -40 to 105C. See Datasheet.

    2. Smaller Package version of THC63LVDM83D is THC63LVDM83E in 5 x 5 BGA package. See Datasheet.

    3. Smaller Package and Lower Voltage version of THC63LVDM83D is THC63LVDM87 with 1.8V in 5 x 5 BGA package. See Datasheet.

  2. For Dual 8bit LVDS THC63LVD823B is standard. See Datasheet.

    1. Smaller Package and Lower Voltage version of THC63LVD823B is THC63LVD827 in 7 x 7 BGA package. See Datasheet.

    2. Automotive version for THC63LVD827 is THC63LVD827-Q. See Datasheet.

  3. For 10bit LVDS:

    1. Single LVDS version is THC63LVD103D. See Datasheet.

    2. Dual LVDS version is THC63LVD1023B. See Datasheet.

Repeater (LVDS to LVDS)

  1. THC63LVD1027D covers (up to) 10 bit LVDS Dual Repeater and Distributor (also known as Replicator) in (a) Single-in Single-out, (b) Single-in Dual-out, (c) Dual-in Single-out, and (d) Dual-in Dual-out modes. See Datasheet.

Deserializer (LVDS to TTL/CMOS)

  1. For 8bit LVDS:

    1. Falling Edge version is THC63LVDF84C. See Datasheet.

    2. Rising Edge version is THC63LVDR84C. See Datasheet.

  2. For 10 bit LVDS, THC63LVD104C is standard. See Datasheet.

  3. For Dual LVDS (up to 10 bit), THC63LVD1024 covers all. See Datasheet.

Higher Performance

While LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) is defined as an industrial standard (TIA/EIA-644 and IEEE 1596.3), the performance of both transmitters and receivers may affect design evaluation and validation process.

THine’s LVDS Tx (Transmitter) products in general have less output skew, and bigger and clearer signal eye pattern.

tTOP, the timing gap between CLK and Data also known as output skew, is one of key factors. (The smaller, the better.) If the tTOP is too large, Rx may not be able to receive the data properly.

THine’s LVDS Rx (Receiver) products in general have larger input skew margin.

tRIP, the timing gap between CLK and Data acceptable to the Rx device also known as input skew margin, is one of key factors for LVDS Rx. (The larger, the better.) If the Rx receives LVDS input with too large tRIP, the data is not received properly.
